The Guild of Mace-Bearers
The Guild of Mace-Bearers is the membership organisation for those experts in Civic Protocol who assist the Civic Heads of our nation to carry out their ceremonial duties. The Guild aims to uphold and preserve the customs of the civic life and to give advice to any who seek it.
In so doing the Guild tries to collect and disseminate information to its members to enable them to better perform their duties and so uphold the position and dignity of the office of Mace-Bearer.
The Guild was founded at Hastings in 1978 when Criers met after the British Championships and elected a Committee. The Guild’s aim is to regularise the organisation of competitions and to define rules for town criers to follow. Michaels are able to work with the Guild to provide any Competition sponsorship and livery production advice.
